Office Time — Privacy Policy
Office Time helps you track your daily office hours. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles, where it is stored, and what control you have over it. The short version: your work logs are stored in a cloud database under a random account ID, your office location never leaves your device, and we never sell data or show ads.
1. Data we store, and where
Work logs (stored in the cloud)
The app's core data is the log you create: check-in and check-out times, break durations, and days marked as "Day Off". These entries are stored in Google Cloud Firestore (part of Google Firebase), linked to your account ID, so your history is backed up and can sync across your devices.
Account (stored in the cloud)
- By default the app creates an anonymous account — a random identifier with no name, email, or other personal details attached.
- If you choose "Sign in with Apple", your Apple account is linked so your history can be recovered on a new device. We receive the name and email address Apple shares (you can choose "Hide My Email", in which case we only receive Apple's private relay address). Your first name may be shown inside the app as a greeting.
Office location (stored on your device only)
If you set an office location for arrival/departure reminders or automatic check-in/out, the coordinates you pick and the trigger radius are saved only on your device. Geofence monitoring is performed by iOS on the device itself. Your location, movements, and office address are never transmitted to our servers or to any third party. Removing the office location in the app deletes it from the device.
Preferences (stored on your device only)
Settings such as your daily hours goal, appearance, timer display mode, and Live Activity preference are stored locally on your device (and in the app's shared container so the home-screen widget can read them).
2. Analytics
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used, so we can improve the app. This includes:
- Feature-usage events (for example: a check-in happened, a reminder was set, an export was created) — with timestamps and coarse values such as durations, never the content of your logs;
- Basic device information (device model, iOS version, app version, language, country);
- App-scoped identifiers (the account ID above and Apple's per-developer device identifier). We do not access the advertising identifier (IDFA), do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and show no advertising.
3. Notifications
Reminders (end-of-day goal, office arrival/departure, automatic check-in confirmations) are local notifications, scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. Notification content is not sent to our servers.
4. Exports
CSV and PDF exports of your history are generated on your device and shared only through the iOS share sheet to destinations you choose. We never receive a copy.
5. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your data — to anyone, ever.
- We do not show ads and do not share data with advertising or data-broker networks.
- We do not use your data for cross-app tracking (no App Tracking Transparency prompt is needed because no tracking occurs).
- We do not collect your precise or background location on our servers — location processing is entirely on-device.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or health data.
6. Service providers
We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics) to provide accounts, cloud storage, and analytics. Google processes this data on our behalf under its Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms. Data may be processed on Google servers outside your country; transfers are protected by Google's standard contractual safeguards. Sign in with Apple is provided by Apple under its own terms.
7. Data retention & deletion
- Retention: your work logs are kept until you delete them, so your history remains available to you.
- Delete a single entry: any log can be deleted in the History tab.
- Delete everything: Settings → "Delete My Data" permanently erases all of your logs from our servers and deletes your account. If you signed in with Apple, the app re-confirms your identity, revokes the Sign in with Apple connection, and deletes the linked account. This cannot be undone.
- Analytics: Firebase Analytics data is retained for a limited period defined by our Firebase configuration and then deleted or aggregated by Google.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. Office Time builds the most important ones directly into the app: you can view all of your data in the History tab, export it as CSV/PDF at any time, and erase it completely with "Delete My Data". For anything else, contact us at the address below — we will respond within 30 days. We do not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
9. Security
Data in transit between the app and Google Firebase is encrypted with TLS. Cloud data is protected by per-user security rules: your entries are readable and writable only by your own authenticated account.
10. Children
Office Time is a work-hours tracker intended for working adults. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes (for example, any new category of data collection) will additionally be highlighted in the app's release notes.
